Now, I’m not the kinda guy who would normally say “I told you so”, but over the last fortnight I’ve seen so many websites “confirming”, “promising”, or “guaranteeing” that Gen 2 would be released on December 7, I kind of feel like I have to. Yeah, I told you so, you absolute click-bait trash.
Now that that’s out of the way, we can get on to the real news. As it turns out, Niantic are indeed planning to release some new Pokemon (whether it’s Gen 2 or the Legendaries remains to be seen), and they’ve even set a date when they’re going to give us more information.
Taken directly from their official post on Facebook:
“As we race towards 2017, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your support. We’re excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you before wrapping up the year. While we cannot share all the details yet, keep an eye out on our social media channels on December 12th for details about the first addition of more Pokémon into Pokémon GO.”
Holy moly. Not only are we getting an in-game event (the obvious guess would be a Christmas themed event), we’re also getting some new Pokemon (again, the obvious guess is either Gen 2 or the Legendary Pokemon).
Honestly, I hope it’s the Legendary Pokemon first. After all, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, and Mewtwo are all Generarion 1 Pokemon, so it seems fitting that they’d be released around Christmas or New Years Eve, with Gen 2 being released over the first few weeks of January.
That’s what I’m hoping for at least. Nobody will know for sure until December 12th, so I guess we just need to stay hyped and wait until then. What do you think it’ll be? Legendaries or Gen 2? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below!
