New Pokemon GO Event: Catch Pikachu Wearing A Party Hat During “Pokemon Day” Event

Party Hat Pikachu Pokemon Day

For Pokemon GO players, the last few days have been quite hectic. The addition of new Pokemon, new items, and new gameplay features meant that we had a lot of stuff to do in-game, but now, things are finally looking like they might be slowing down a bit. At least it seemed that way, until the announcement of the “party hat Pikachu” event.

This is something that hasn’t actually been mentioned by Niantic yet, but the Pokemon Company (the company who make the real Pokemon games) just posted on their official website that a special event would be running in Pokemon GO, where trainers would be able to catch party hat wearing Pikachu.

The official post reads: “Pikachu Parties in Pokémon GO! Keep your eye out for a special Pikachu wearing a party hat to celebrate Pokémon Day!” Pokemon Day, for those unaware, is usually held on the 27th of February, and is a day dedicated to special events based around Pokemon.

The post continues with: “Pikachu is ready to lead the Pokémon Day celebration in Pokémon GO. From February 26 at 1:00 p.m. PST to March 6 at 1:00 p.m. PST, any Pikachu you encounter in the wild will be wearing a festive party hat! The Pikachu you catch during that time will keep its party hat forever, so be sure to look for this special Pikachu during its short time in the wild.

That’s all we know about the event so far, but there’s every chance it might include more than the “party hat Pikachu” we’ve been promised. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement from Niantic before we start jumping to conclusions about what else may be happening with the event, though.

As was mentioned in the announcement, the Pokemon Day event will begin at 1:00 PM PST on the 26th of February, and run until 1:00PM PST on the 6th of March. As far as Pokemon GO events go, this is quite a long one, clocking in at a full 8 days (previous events have typically lasted between 6-7 days).
