Despite all of the insults, rude remarks, and constant hate that Niantic receive every single day on the official Pokemon GO Facebook page, I think they’re doing a pretty good job at staying positive and implementing new features and events. And, speaking of events, we’re getting a really good one tomorrow. As announced over on the Facebook page earlier this morning, there’s a Pokemon GO double XP event in the works.
Taken directly from the Facebook page, this is what they had to say:
It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokémon GO a few short months ago in July. We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise. We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you – and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community.
So, starting November 23rd at 00:00 UTC and going through November 30th 00:00 UTC, we will double the amount of XP and Stardust you receive when completing in-game actions.
The Pokémon GO team
Yep, you read that right: We’re getting a Pokemon GO double XP and Stardust event for a full week starting tomorrow!
Could this be the Thanksgiving event we were promised by a suspicious Niantic employee? It isn’t officially branded a “Thanksgiving” event, and it’s slightly different to what was promised, but the timing matches up and Niantic did say that this event was their way of “thanking” the players for playing.
Regardless, this is surely going to be a great event. Double XP by itself would be insane; as we’d be able to use a Lucky Egg and get four times the experience, which when combined with the evolution of hundreds of Pidgeys, will result in insane level ups.
But double XP and double Stardust? This is going to be one hell of a good week for Pokemon GO, that’s for sure.
If you’re unsure when the event starts in your Country/Region, you can click here to see the current time in UTC. The event will begin at 12:00 AM UTC, so be sure to take advantage of every second that this event runs!
What do you think about this Pokemon GO double XP & Stardust event? Is it a tad overkill? Or do you think that we, as players, deserve this event after all of the screw-ups Niantic have brought to the game? As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
