Even if you’re a truly dedicated Pokemon GO player, there’s a good chance that you haven’t caught an Unown yet. They don’t hatch from eggs, they don’t seem to nest, and they’re incredibly rare. But, thanks to some new data, we’re left asking if the Unown spawn rate increased overnight in Pokemon GO.
The first indication that Unown spawn rates may have been boosted came from The Silph Road subreddit, in a thread titled: “Has the unown spawn rate been subtly increased?” In their post, the OP made reference to the fact that according to their city-wide scanner, Unown were spawning much more frequently than normal.
“Where I live has a city-wide scanner, and between gen 2’s release and last Friday we had seen a total of 12 unown. Since Friday, we’ve had an additional 5, taking the total number to 17,” reported Reddit user Preachey.
“That’s almost 1/3 of the spawns since gen2 coming in the last 3 days. Has anyone else with large-scale scanners noticed an increase in the spawn rate, or has RNGesus just paid a visit to my city over the weekend?”
30 minutes after Preachey made their post to The Silph Road, another user posted a similar observation regarding Unown’s spawn rate: “My city has a Tracker that tracks all pokemon since it started tracking (just before gen 2 came out) and as of last night, we had seen exactly 0 Unowns.”
“Yesterday, an Unown spawned. Ofcourse i put my shoes on and ran as fast as i could to catch it. And i did 😀 6 hours later, another one spawned. That’s 2 in 1 day. 1 More spawned this morning. That’s 3 within 24 hours, compared to 0 in 80 days before.”
Since this information is still very fresh, it’s far too early to be making any conclusions just yet. However, if the Unown spawn rate has in fact increased, we’ll certainly be able to confirm this over the coming days. This article will be updated as new information emerges.
But what do you think? In your experience, has the Unown spawn rate increased? Or do you think it’s still as low as it’s always been? As always, let me know what you think in the comment section below!
